We Buy Oil-Filled Transformers
Sell your oil-filled distribution or power transformers. We handle oil sampling, PCB testing coordination, rigging, and freight — payment before pickup.

Oil-filled transformers — from pole-top distribution units to station-class power transformers — are our specialty. We understand the compliance side that scares off casual buyers: PCB status, oil sampling, DOT transport rules, and containment. We handle all of it, which is why plants and utilities sell to us.
We buy oil-filled units energized-until-removal, long-stored, or drained. Working units with recent oil tests bring resale pricing; older units are priced on copper content and core weight, always above commodity scrap because we recover the whole unit.

How is PCB testing handled when selling an oil-filled transformer?
Units built after 1979 are presumed non-PCB, and nameplates often carry a 'No PCB' label. Where status is unknown, we coordinate an oil sample and lab test (typically 3-5 business days) before scheduling transport. Confirmed PCB-contaminated units follow EPA-regulated disposal paths — talk to us before assuming a unit is worthless.
What does the pickup process look like?
For station and power class units we arrange crane service, oil handling if partial draining is needed for weight, oversize permits, and heavy-haul transport. You provide site access and a pickup window; our rigging partners do the rest. Payment clears before the unit leaves the pad.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do you buy transformers that are still full of oil?
- Yes. Most units ship full or partially drained depending on weight limits. Our carriers are licensed for oil-filled equipment transport.
- What if my transformer has a leak?
- We still buy it. Leaking units are containment-handled and priced on recoverable material. Do not scrap a leaker before getting our offer.
- Can you handle transformers at live substations?
- Yes, with your utility's or plant's switching coordination. Our riggers work de-energized equipment under standard LOTO procedures.
